About the Role
A Solution Architect position is available within a fast-moving engineering environment supporting large-scale, safety-critical industrial systems.

The team is seeking a capable architect who can work closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders to interpret needs, refine requirements, and shape clear, workable solutions.

This is primarily a requirements-focused role within a microservices environment, where you will play a key part in translating business problems into well-defined designs that can be progressed by other architects and delivery teams.

You will gather needs from the business, produce designs and formal requirements, and hand these over for further technical detailing, while maintaining visibility of how features progress through their delivery lifecycle.

This is a 12-month contract role with the potential to extend, brought on to backfill experienced team members who have moved onto new projects.

While not a coding role, you will need a strong technical foundation and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders alike.

The role is Perth based, initially full time in the office for the first few months, before transitioning to a hybrid model of three days work from home.

You Should Have
• A background in software development, ideally with around five years as a developer, though this is flexible
• A minimum of 2 years of Solution Architecture experience
• Strong capability in requirements analysis and requirements authoring
• A solid understanding of data modelling and asynchronous programming
• The ability to engage with business stakeholders, interpret needs, and provide constructive feedback to refine them
• A practical, delivery-oriented mindset rather than a purely corporate or enterprise architecture background
• Industrial or mining sector experience, which is highly beneficial

Technical Requirements
Must have
• Experience with .NET, C#, and microservices
• Reasonable flexibility across technologies
• Strong conceptual understanding of modern distributed systems
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, even though this is not a coding role
Nice to have
• Experience with cloud-based architecture patterns, particularly message buses such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Resources or heavy industry exposure

Team and Reporting Structure
You will report directly to the Principal Solution Architect within a team of approximately 15 people.
The group is highly collaborative, technically capable, and focused on delivering complex, real-world systems at scale.

Culture
The team has a strong, supportive culture with high levels of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical rigor.

There is clear momentum across a portfolio of large-scale, technically complex projects, with a genuine emphasis on continuous learning and modern engineering practices.

Working Arrangements
• Initially full time in the office for the first few months
• Transition to three days work from home thereafter

Salary
Up to  $1,040 per day plus superannuation.

Interview Process
One round of interviews is likely, though this may vary depending on the candidate.

The Benefits
• Work on large-scale, safety-critical industrial systems
• Exposure to modern microservices and event-driven architecture
• Opportunity to grow through learning new technologies and patterns
• Be part of a high-calibre, high-energy engineering team
• Long-term contract potential beyond the initial 12 months
