What You’ll Do-
Network Excellence:

Deliver 24/7 stable, reliable multi-site connectivity and robust wired/wireless networking across all school locations.

Design and implement best practice LANs, VLANs, DMZs, WANs, and industry-standard IPv4/IPv6 routing (including BGP).

Maintain Linux systems to support networking outcomes and ensure communications racks/rooms are tidy and well-maintained.

Manage external domain and IP addresses, and document major IT networking projects.

Server & Service Management:
-
Provide 24/7 reliable server and virtual hosting platforms for school systems and software.

Ensure ample, best-practice storage capacity and effective resource management (CPU/GPU/RAM/Storage/Power).

Support Linux and Windows hosting, and manage Azure virtualization environments.

ICT Security:
-
Deliver 24/7 secure network and infrastructure, including firewall, content filtering, and threat protection systems.

Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory standards (e.g., Level 2 Essential 8) and XDR, MDR, EDR requirements.

Implement best-practice stakeholder isolation, email/network security, and effective cloud security.

Manage unified login and SSO across all systems.

Disaster Recovery & Resiliency:
-
Oversee 24/7 backup systems, disaster recovery, and resilient service hosting with redundant connections.

Manage external data-centre connectivity, server room recovery, and immutable backup solutions.
-
Maintain up-to-date disaster recovery documentation and monitor infrastructure for early issue detection.

Additional Responsibilities:

Ensure best-practice change management and asset management.
-
Resolve service tickets promptly, prioritising school and department needs.
-
Maintain external relationships with MSPs and regulatory entities.
-
Provide analytical support for escalated IT tickets and deliver projects on time.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of IT.

Qualifications & Experience:
-
Tertiary qualification in IT and/or relevant experience.
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a school, professional, or corporate environment.

Proven expertise in modern hybrid networking (DHCP, DNS, HTTP(S), NFS, SNMP, SMB, BGP, Proxy, SSH, VLAN, WPA, NAT, LAG, Radius, NAC, SIP, IPv4/IPv6, QOS, etc.).

Strong skills in virtualisation hosting (VMware, Proxmox, KVM, Hyper-V) and backup/disaster recovery (Veeam, Simplivity, RAID).

Proficiency with Linux (Debian) server management and services.
-
Solid understanding of AD, Azure, JAMF, Intune, and project management/documentation.

Completion of a National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
