About the Role
A Full Stack Developer (Backend Leaning) contract position is available within a collaborative digital product team working across a large scale portal and integration project within a modern technology environment.
The requirement has arisen following the departure of an existing backend developer, alongside increasing project delivery demands across a major digital initiative with tight timelines.
The team is currently building a React based portal which aggregates and surfaces data from multiple systems, including integrations with various platforms and the Azure Integration Platform.
The broader environment includes backend development in Python, experience APIs, containerised applications, and ongoing CMS and component development aligned to design systems.
You will operate as a hands on technical contributor, responsible for backend and integration focused development work while supporting CI/CD implementation, portal enhancements, API development, and CMS component delivery.
This role will suit a developer who enjoys operating as an individual contributor within a collaborative engineering environment, while remaining heavily involved in hands on coding and technical delivery.
This is initially a six month contract, with the broader project expected to continue beyond the initial engagement, making extension possible for strong performers depending on project outcomes and internal team structure changes.
You Should Have
• Around five or more years of total commercial development experience
• Experience working across full stack development environments
• Strong problem solving capability and the ability to deliver work autonomously
• Ability to operate effectively as an individual contributor within a collaborative team
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a supportive digital team environment
• A security focused development mindset
Technical Requirements
Must Have
• Strong React development experience
• Python development experience
• Strong API development experience
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation processes
• Experience working with integrations and containerised applications
• Experience using GitHub
• Strong JavaScript and HTML capability
Nice to Have
• Exposure to Microsoft technologies
• Exposure to Power Platform environments
Key Responsibilities
• Build and enhance backend functionality and integrations for a React based portal
• Develop APIs and support experience API functionality
• Assist with CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation
• Build advanced forms and CMS components aligned to design systems
• Support containerised application environments
• Collaborate closely with developers and broader digital stakeholders to meet delivery timelines
• Ensure delivered solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable
Working Arrangements
• Hybrid working model with three days per week in the office
• Two days per week work from home
• Flexible working arrangements available
Rate
Contract day rate between $500 - $800 per day (inclusive of Superannuation), with flexibility depending on candidate experience, technical capability, and overall alignment to the project requirements.
