About the opportunities:
Two contract opportunities are available for experienced Radio Communications Technicians to support critical Motorola radio infrastructure across WA’s Pilbara region. These roles suit hands?on RF specialists who enjoy site-based work, autonomy, and contributing to the reliability of essential communications systems.
Up to $840/day incl. super ($175k+ annual package).
1. Radio Communications Field Engineer – MotoTRBO / DMR
Contract Duration: 12 months upfront, extensions based on performance
Roster: 8:6, 12hrs/day, day shift only (Mon to Mon)
Location: Pilbara, WA (Gold site)
Role Overview:
This position provides on?site technical support for Motorola MotoTRBO and DMR radio infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, troubleshooting, and optimising RF systems to ensure reliable communications across the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support, maintain and troubleshoot Motorola MotoTRBO / DMR radio systems
- Perform RF diagnostics, testing, and fault resolution
- Conduct preventative maintenance and system health checks
- Assist with configuration, upgrades, and optimisation of radio infrastructure
- Liaise with site operations, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and reporting
- Strong RF communications background (essential)
- Experience with Motorola MotoTRBO / DMR systems
- Understanding of radio network architecture, repeaters, and IP?linked systems
- Familiarity with TRBOnet dispatch consoles (advantageous but not essential)
2. Radio Communications Field Engineer – Motorola P25
Contract Duration: 6 months upfront, extensions based on performance
Roster: 8:6, 12hrs/day, day shift only (Wed to Wed)
Location: Port Hedland, WA (Iron Ore site)
Role Overview:
This role focuses on supporting Motorola P25 radio infrastructure and associated console systems. You’ll provide operational support, maintenance, fault-finding and troubleshooting to ensure high availability of mission?critical communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain Motorola P25 radio systems and consoles
- Diagnose and resolve RF and network-related faults
- Perform routine maintenance and system performance checks
- Assist with system upgrades, configuration, and commissioning
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure system reliability
- Maintain technical documentation and service records
- Demonstrated experience with Motorola P25 systems / infrastructure / consoles
- Solid RF communications knowledge
- Understanding of trunked radio systems and digital radio technologies
- Ability to work safely and effectively in remote operational environments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability
