About the role:
Join one of Australia’s leading iron ore producers and green energy innovators as an Electrical Commissioning Supervisor, working across all site in the Pilbara. This position will lead the safe and efficient commissioning and energisation of electrical systems across a major iron ore mining project.
- 2:1 Roster – days only – 12 hour shifts
- 12 month contract + extensions based on performance
- $1,220 per day + super ($332k+ annual package)
- Flights, accommodation, meals, and PPE provided
What you’ll be doing:
- Plan and manage commissioning schedules aligned with construction milestones
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and HSE teams to ensure readiness and safe execution
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures for accuracy and completeness
- Lead and mentor commissioning technicians, electricians, and subcontractors
- Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and maintain quality standards
- Provide technical guidance and resolve commissioning issues
- Oversee installation verification, pre-commissioning checks, and functional testing of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and control panels
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults to ensure systems are safe and operational
- Ensure commissioning activities comply with HSE policies, electrical safety standards, and permit-to-work systems
- Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safe work practices
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incidents, and corrective actions
- Prepare commissioning reports, test certificates, and handover documentation
- Maintain records of system status and commissioning progress
- Report risks, delays, and technical issues to project management
- Verify installations meet design intent and Australian standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000)
What you’ll need to be successful in the role:
- Unrestricted Australian working rights – this position offers no kind of Visa sponsorship or relocation assistance
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical commissioning, ideally in iron ore or heavy industrial projects
- Electrical Trade Certificate or Degree in Electrical Engineering
- WA Electrical License
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, protection schemes, and commissioning practices in mining or heavy industry
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation
- Proven leadership and team coordination skills in FIFO environments
- Familiarity with mining infrastructure, including HV distribution, substations, and conveyors
- HV Switching Ticket (desirable)
