We’re seeking a Data Analyst to support project teams through data analysis, reconciliation, profiling and migration activities across complex data environments. This role plays a critical part in producing reproducible analyses, reconciliation findings, profiled data sets and actionable insights that support Data Architects, Business Analysts and project stakeholders in making informed decisions.
In this hands on position, you’ll work closely with Data Architects, DBAs, source-system SMEs and project teams, providing analytical expertise across data quality, reconciliation, investigative analysis and migration support. You’ll work across multiple data sources and systems, helping to identify issues, validate outcomes and ensure project teams have the evidence required to drive successful delivery.
You Should Have
- Experience using query languages to analyse and interrogate data
- Experience working within scripting or analysis environments to support complex data investigations
- Ability to work with a variety of data access methods, including databases, APIs, reporting extracts and vendor supplied tools
- Experience collaborating with DBAs to obtain access, understand schemas and perform analysis within operational constraints
- Ability to work with source-system SMEs to interpret fields, understand business context and identify historical artefacts
- Strong understanding of source-system data structures, entities, volumes, distributions and anomalies
- Experience performing reconciliation across multiple source systems and identifying meaningful differences
- Strong data quality profiling experience across completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness and conformity
- Ability to conduct investigative analysis and provide findings that stakeholders can act upon
- Experience documenting analyses and producing reproducible outputs that can be rerun and validated
- Exposure to migration and cutover activities, including data extracts, validation and reconciliation reporting
- Ability to work effectively with messy operational data, including inconsistently used fields, free text data and historical production artefacts
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to identify meaningful insights and exceptions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed data analysis to support project teams and enterprise initiatives
- Produce reproducible analyses, reconciliation findings and profiled data sets for stakeholders
- Work with DBAs and source-system SMEs to understand data structures, schemas and business context
- Assess source data sets, identifying entities, distributions, populated fields, gaps and anomalies
- Perform reconciliation across multiple systems and report findings that support project decision making
- Assess data quality across completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness and conformity dimensions
- Design and execute investigative analyses in response to questions from architects, business analysts and project leads
- Produce findings, reports and documentation that stakeholders can use to drive outcomes
- Document analysis processes to ensure results can be reproduced and validated over time
- Support migration and cutover activities through data extracts, validation reports and reconciliation processes
- Perform pre-cutover and post-cutover analysis and reporting
- Identify migration data issues early and escalate findings to support project delivery
- Work with complex and messy operational data, providing practical analysis and recommendations
- Contribute to project documentation and maintain knowledge that supports future analysis activities
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, stakeholders and subject matter experts
