You will play a key role in improving the organisation’s email security posture through the management and optimisation of its email security platform. You'll focus on gateway protection, DMARC and email fraud defence uplift, threat response, and human-risk reduction initiatives, helping to improve resilience against phishing, supplier-originated threats, spoofing, and account compromise.
Your work will drive remediation to best practice, strengthen email security controls, and support measurable risk reduction across a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and uplift email security controls, including gateway policy health, safelist reviews, custom spam-rule reviews, domain validation, and operational documentation.
- Drive DMARC, email fraud defence, and spoofing protection improvements, including SPF/DKIM alignment, inbound enforcement, approved bypass handling, and progression of domains toward stronger enforcement.
- Tune and support controls for phishing, impersonation attacks, QR-code threats, malicious URLs, supplier-originated threats, account takeover signals, and user-reported suspicious emails.
- Utilise advanced email security insights and analytics to support targeted user interventions and measurable risk reduction.
- Collaborate across Cyber Security, Infrastructure, End User Computing, and vendor teams to strengthen email security operations and outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve security controls, operational processes, and threat detection capabilities.
What You'll Need
- Hands-on experience with Proofpoint Email Protection or a comparable secure email gateway platform.
- Strong understanding of SPF, DKIM, DMARC, email routing, and inbound email enforcement.
- Experience conducting phishing investigations, threat triage, and email security operations.
- Ability to automate or streamline email security processes using APIs, scripting, or SIEM/SOAR integrations.
- Proven ability to work effectively across technical teams and external vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a security-first mindset.
