Are you frustrated by the lack of response after submitting your CV, confident that you are the perfect person for this position?

The wait between submitting your CV and hearing from the hiring manager can feel like years, when you hear this silence it is your cue to take control of the process. Here’s how:

Take proactive measures

You’re invested significant time and effort into presenting yourself as the ideal candidate, and you deserve a response. Use this opportunity to connect with the individual responsible for filling the role.

Maintain visibility

If you haven’t received feedback within ten days, initiate contact. Call the recruiter or employer to express your enthusiasm for the role. Utilise your succinct elevator pitch and inquire about your candidacy status. Demonstrating your proactive approach can leave a positive impression. Additionally, ask about the expected timeline for the application process.

Understand your value

Your CV is an asset. Recruiters and employers rely on candidates like you to sustain their operations and achieve their objectives. This is a competitive market for top talent

Offer sincere compliments

A bit of genuine flattery can be effective. Express your admiration for the company and your excitement about the potential opportunity. Complimenting the organisation and acknowledging its reputation can positively influence your chances.

Send a personalised email

If it proves difficult to reach the right person by phone, send a well-crafted email directly to the recruiter or employer managing the position. Avoid generic catch-all addresses to ensure a personal touch.

Mention other offers

If you have a legitimate job offer from another organisation, inform the recruiter or employer. This can expedite the process by signalling your strong candidacy.

Continue communication

Even if you receive a rejection, express your ongoing interest in the organisation. Ask for feedback on what qualities the successful candidate possessed and how you might improve your CV. This demonstrates your dedication and willingness to learn. The initially selected candidate may decline the offer, or another role may become available, and you want to be considered.

Remain optimistic

There is a suitable role out there for you. Maintain a positive outlook and continue pursuing opportunities with confidence.

Best of luck in your job search.
